Buying for family, friends or a work team in one order saves time, but each traveller needs their own eSIM on their own phone. A little planning avoids the usual problems: someone's phone isn't compatible, a QR code gets scanned twice, or one person runs out of data on day three.
Before you buy: check every phone
Each phone must support eSIM and be unlocked for use with other networks. Ask each person to check before you pay — our compatibility page explains how. An eSIM bought for an incompatible phone can't be moved to a SIM card.
Don't assume everyone needs the same plan
Usage varies a lot within a group. Someone relying on maps and video calls home will use much more than someone who mostly uses messaging. Your cart lets you add different plans and set a quantity for each, so you can, for example, buy three smaller plans and one larger plan in the same order.
| Traveller type | What to consider |
|---|---|
| Navigator / organiser | Heavier maps and booking use; consider a larger plan or one with hotspot. |
| Remote worker | Hotspot allowed is essential; compare large fixed plans against unlimited fair-use terms. |
| Light user | A small plan with a long enough validity period is often sufficient. |
Sharing one hotspot vs. separate eSIMs
One person tethering everyone can look cheaper, but it ties the group to one phone's battery and location, and only works on plans that allow hotspot use. Separate eSIMs let people split up during the day.
After payment: hand out installs carefully
- Each eSIM in your order has its own QR code and order number. Keep a note of which went to whom.
- Send each person only their own QR code, and ask them to install it on their own phone.
- A QR code can normally only be installed once. Don't scan it “to test” on another device.
- Each traveller can check their own usage from the order page with the order email and their order number.
Paying
One checkout covers the whole group. Card or crypto, the total is confirmed before you're sent to pay. If prices change between adding to cart and paying, we'll show the new total rather than charge something different.
